Is The Cabbage Soup Diet The Solution You've Been Looking For??

If you’re like a lot of people, you may spend a lot of time searching for a good way to lose weight and get into better shape.  While many people choose exercise, which will improve the physical condition, many others are just looking at diets in order to drop pounds as quickly (and as many) as possible.  Some are turning to something called the cabbage soup diet to help them with their weight.  While there are criticisms of this diet, to be sure, lots of people believe it is the answer they’ve been seeking in their battle against bulge.  The question is whether the diet can do what it claims – and exactly how does it work??

The cabbage soup diet is supposed to be conducted for seven days; we’ll start by looking at what must be done in the first days of the diet.  To begin with, fruit is something you can eat in large quantities on the diet’s first day.  The one fruit you should stay away from at first is bananas (they will come into play later in the week).  So you can have the soup, along with lots of fruit.  You can drink cranberry juice or unsweetened tea – but you will always want to consume plenty of water during the course of the diet (more on this later).  Day 2 will involve the introduction of vegetables into the plan.  You should steer clear of peas, dry beans, and corn – but otherwise, there is no limit to the veggies you can eat.  In addition, you can sink your teeth into a good baked potato with some butter.  The second day is one in which there will be no fruit intake.

When Day 3 arrives, you can start eating fruit again, as well as all vegetables, minus the baked potato.  Once you hit Day 4, the bananas make a significant appearance – as you are allowed to eat as many as eight of them.  Included in the Day 4 menu is skim milk, in heavy quantities.  By partaking in these things that day, you will be doing your part to help suppress your desire for sugary foods.  Day 5 of the cabbage soup diet will be one on which you can start adding beef – 10-20 ounces of it – to the plan.  Continue to remember to consume water; on this day, you should begin increasing your intake to 6-8 glasses.

By Day 6, you’ll be eating huge amounts of beef, and steaks can go on the menu.  If you don’t want those, you may eat skinless chicken or broiled fish instead.  Green vegetables are in; baked potatoes are out.  On the final day of the cabbage soup diet, brown rice and vegetables are the main course, and you can drink unsweetened fruit juice.

So by now, you will have eaten lots of fruits, lots of vegetables – and plenty of water.  While veggies and fruits are part of the upside of this diet, water is a part of both angles of the situation.  The plus is that those looking to lose water weight will indeed see a decrease, which accounts for much of the pounds lost on the cabbage soup diet.  The problem comes in the fact that there is lots of sodium on this diet, and that plus the loss of water equals lots of potential for dehydration and weakness.  In addition, this is definitely not a long-term solution to weight loss, given the lack of weight loss other than water weight.

Still – the cabbage soup diet can be a short-term answer to the weight loss you seek.
