What Are The Benefits Of The Cabbage Soup Diet??

There are millions of people who are struggling to find ways that they can lose weight.  These individuals will look to anything to help – from diet pills, to exercise, to different sorts of trends that are considered good ways to shed a few pounds.  Others are trying to find a “lose weight quick” solution.  There is a plan in existence which is called the cabbage soup diet.  This diet plan promises to help people lose pounds in a seven day period, following strict instructions as to what foods they are allowed to eat.  The question is:  Do people get legitimate benefits out of a cabbage soup diet??

The plan begins by allowing lots of fruit to be consumed, then adding vegetables in the days to come.  So certainly, many can point to this fact as one of the benefits of the cabbage soup diet.  There’d no question that it’s a good thing to get plenty of good fruits and vegetables in your health plan.  However, others may look and question this by pointing out that you can, indeed, intake plentiful fruits and veggies without participating in this diet and still get the benefits they provide.  So then what makes the diet most enticing??

Well, you’d obviously have to look to the cabbage.  I know what you’re thinking – who could possibly see eating cabbage as a benefit...much less making a soup out of it??  However, this attitude does overlook the surprising benefits of cabbage that most people should take a look at.  This vegetable is quite high in nutritional value, being rich in fat-burning vitamin C and vitamin B, which helps equally in the process of fat burning.  Vitamin C also helps in boosting one’s immune system.  Cabbage also contains vitamins A and E; vitamin A helps toward good eyes and healthy skin, while E contributes to improved blood cell oxygen.  In addition to this, the vitamin B in cabbage can aid the nervous system.  In recent years, this vegetable has been noted in its role in the fight against colon cancer and breast cancer – cabbage can lower the chances that you’ll get the disease.

Some more potential benefits of a cabbage soup diet:  Cabbage is strong in providing a portion of our daily required fiber, along with its low level of carbs.  Cabbage contains only 33 calories in a given serving – so the veggie is a very nice food for that reason.  This is one of the reasons that the cabbage soup diet has been touted for weight loss purposes.

These things are all well and good – but we can’t go without seeing the potential negatives from a plan like this one.  Despite certain benefits from the cabbage soup diet, the fact that much of the weight loss is water weight makes this the kind of diet that is not ideal for trying to keep pounds off.  There is also the idea that you lose so much weight in so little time.  This type of thinking can be dangerous if you aren’t looking at the risks and instead are too bent on losing the weight.  You must always, always do things in a healthy fashion.  For this, among other reasons, the cabbage soup diet isn’t recommended by many experts.

So after weighing the pros and cons, one can clearly see some benefits from the cabbage soup diet – but you’ll have to make the decision as to whether any costs may outweigh the benefits.
