Cabbage Soup Diet Guidlines

The cabbage soup diet guidelines allow a little variety in food choices.  Cabbage soup, however, must be consumed a minimum of once a day.  Because it is so low in calories, this diet soup allows the pounds to be shed in a short period of time.  People have reported losing 10-15 pounds in just one week.  Unfortunately, the bulk of the weight is not loss through fat instead the dieter is losing fluid.

The cabbage soup diet guidelines emphasize this menu plan:

On the first day:  You have cabbage soup.  In addition, you have any fruit except for bananas, plus black coffee, unsweetened tea, cranberry juice and water.

On the second day:  You have cabbage soup and vegetables – raw, steamed, or broiled.  (Avoid dry beans, corn, and peas) plus a baked potato and butter for supper.

On the third day:  You are allowed to eat fruits and vegetables both along with the cabbage soup.

On the fourth day:  You can eat up to 8 bananas plus fat- free milk along with the cabbage soup.

On the fifth day:  Along with the cabbage soup, you can have 450 grams of meat/fish and six tomatoes if you wish.

On the sixth day:  You can have cabbage soup and veggie and meat.

On the seventy day:  You can eat brown rice, veggies and fruit along with the cabbage soup.

Many people probably lose a lot of weight on the cabbage soup diet because the guidelines are so strict they are only allowed to eat the same foods each day until the week is up.  This would probably be so monotonous that the dieter wouldn’t eat much of anything.  The calorie intake with this diet is so low already that by eating even fewer calories through boredom the dieter would lose weight in an unhealthier manner.  According to doctors a diet which allows 1200 calories or less in a day is very unsafe.  You may not want to consider going it alone.  Get a doctor s advice and play it safe.

The cabbage soup diet guidelines are restrictive, urging dieters to intake fewer calories than recommended by doctors, not getting enough nutrients, providing only a miniscule amount of nourishment that the body should have.  Some dieticians are not supporting this diet and suggest that dieters find a weight loss solution which includes a variety, exercise, and balanced meals.

Dieters who are on the cabbage soup diet are advised to diet for one week and not to return to the diet for at least two weeks.  No doubt that they have lost weight on this restricted diet, but if they go back to eating regular foods during their break from the cabbage soup diet, they will regain at least a portion of the weight they lost.

Guidelines for the cabbage soup diet encourage dieters to get plenty of water, eat vegetables fruits, avoid bread, and alcohol, and drink skim milk.  This is not enough, so consult your doctor constantly while you are on this diet.
